Tiny fish casts big shadow over health of Niagara River

The Emerald Shiner Project was featured in an article in the Buffalo News this week, reviewing some of the preliminary results now that two of the three years of the study have been completed. Last year was a tough year for the emerald shiner. We noted a 75% decrease in population from the previous year. The article featured comments from Dr. Alicia Pérez-Fuentetaja, graduate student Jo Johnson, as well as our collaborators from UB, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NYS DEC, and Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper.
