Snowy owl

In February 2016, a snowy owl stopped over at the Field Station for several days. The Niagara River is an important migratory bird flyway.

Occasionally, snowy owls and other migratory birds stop to rest at the Field Station. This bird was here in 2016, but another owl was seen in 2018.

Some of these pictures were taken through a spotting scope so we could get a better view without approaching too closely to disturb the bird.
