Researcher Randal Snyder received funding for one project:
Randal Snyder -- New York Sea Grant -- Improved Predictions of Condition and Growth in Alewives: Effects of Dietary Fatty Acid, Temperature, and Ration -- $48,357
This project will enable more accurate modeling of alewife growth under changing environmental conditions. This will improve our ability to optimize salmonine stocking rates, to forecast how changes in food webs or abiotic factors will affect alewife populations, and to better predict the impact of alewives on their prey populations. In addition to improving fisheries management decisions in New York State and the Great Lakes region, this project will help to advance a new approach in the development of fish performance models that will have many applications in quantitative fisheries biology.
